| Another championship! This time
it was Ted Getzke, Paul Kirchoff and Nick Clobes passing
Alexandria's 4th runner with a half mile to go that
helped seal the victory. Ted, Paul and Nick have all made
great improvements from a year ago. It was the team's 5th
championship at this meet in the last seven years. Today,
the team was rewarded with a cake, a little tastier than
a trophy. Eric Schmidt led the way as his runner up
finish matches Lukus Klawitter, who ran JV today, as the
best a 7th grader has done at this meet. Andrew Carlson
continues his impressive running this year as he placed
3rd. The top 10, Eric, Andrew, Ted and Paul all earned
medals today. Times today were slower than Hutchinson due
to a longer course and to a very wet course. Only Andrew,
Paul and Sean Ahlers ran the same race a year ago. They
all improved their times, but not by much due to the slow
course conditions. This race was much larger than last
year, increasing by 29 runners. Sixth graders were
allowed to compete this year, as they didn't a year ago.
Luke Carlson and Zach Mandelkow did well in representing
the youngsters. Many runners missing today due to a
variety of reasons, but none due to serious injuries.
Looking forward to the Milaca Mega Meet on Saturday,
aptly named due to over 3000 runners expected to compete. |
